To begin, cut the loofah sponges into slices that are about 1-inch thick. I found an old bread knife worked great for this!
Each of the slices should fit perfectly into your Silicone Baking Mold.
The Soap
To fill the 6-cavity baking mold you will need about 1 pound of Coconut Melt & Pour Soap Base. Pictured below is a 5-pound block so I cut the amount needed off with a soap cutting tool.
Cut the 1-pound into smaller chunks and place into the microwave safe glass measuring cup.
To melt, place the soap in the microwave for 20 seconds at a time. Stir the soap with a popsicle stick each time you take it out of the microwave.
When all of the chunks are completely melted you are ready to add the color, scent, and glitter if you decide too.
Remember you can always add more but you can’t take any away!
Add about 10 drops of essential oil for the scent, and about 4-5 drops of soap coloring.
Combined essential oils and did Mandarin and Eucalyptus. I love this combination!
Of course, I had to add glitter, but the glitter is optional. I think everything should sparkle. Do you agree?
I added a good shake of glitter, I would say maybe a 1/2 teaspoon.
Stir everything together with a popsicle stick. This is where you can decide if your soap needs more of anything. I usually end up adding a bit more essential oils for sent and maybe for color if I want the color deeper.
Carefully pour the soap mixture into the silicone tray with the loofah slices. It helps to hold the loofas in place with a popsicle stick as you pour because they will want to float.
Set aside to cool. To hurry up the process, you can place in a refrigerator if you would like.
Once they are completely cool, the loofah soap should pop right out of the tray. That is all there is to it!
